RSS Reader memory stress tests | WebReader News RSS Reader for Kindle Fire and PlayBook

I recorded 2 videos to showcase the performances of WebReader News RSS Reader for Kindle Fire and BlackBerry PlayBook.

The first test is taken on an Amazon Kindle Fire tablet and you can see how the rss reader releases memory once it reaches a maximum of 20MB.

On the second video I recorded both the Kindle Fire and BlackBerry PlayBook performance test.

No matter how long you read on WebReader News RSS Reader, the app will never crash!

WebReader RSS Reader is available for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, PlayBook, Kindle Fire and Android phones and tablets.

WebReader News RSS Reader for iPhone, iPad, Android, PlayBook and Kindle Fire

Our main goal is to create a powerfull, clean and easy to use rss reader across all platforms and devices and make WebReader your personal newspaper.

So we started to develop the rss reader for iPhone, iPad and Android.

After we sketch up the WebReader RSS Reader mobile interface followed the first design.

…and we got our hands into the code

After days and days, we came up with an rss reader for mobile that:

Is easy to use

Eliminates the ads and unnecessary information

Is performant

Displays web feed article inside rss reader

Caches your news feed to read them offline

WebReader is currently available on iTunes Store, BlackBerry App World and Amazon Android Store.

The next WebReader update for iOS, Android and PlayBook is coming very soon and will feature better offline caching system, caching images offline and a new view for the feed’s posts.

Thank you all for your feedback and support!

WebReader RSS Reader 1.0.4 for BlackBerry Playbook tablet

WebReader RSS Reader 1.0.4 for BlackBerry PlayBook tablet features:

  • Original rss feed view

Now you can view the origin url of the rss feed you’re watching.

  • Send rss feed to computer

We added a new button on the feed’s post control bar to view the feed’s origin url inside your computer’s browser. You need to have WebReader for Desktop installed.

  • Improved caching mechanism

We improved the feed’s caching mechanism and we tried to give you more control over it(thanks to Brian). You’ll notice a button on the bottom left that will display how many uncached unread rss feeds you have and if the cache process is running it will appear an activity indicator.

If you click the cache button will pop-up an window where you can start or stop the caching process or you can opt to automatically cache rss feeds when discovered.

  • Load all feed’s posts button

You can load all feed’s posts if you click the button that displays the current unread feed items.

No more verification code when you authentificate with Google and no “more button” at the end of the feed’s list(loads new items automatically).

More features will come in the next versions and I invite you all to suggest any ideea you want to see implemented in WebReader RSS Reader for BlackBerry PlayBook.

New update of WebReader App for BlackBerry PlayBook

The new update of WebReader (1.0.2) for the Playbook tablet is now available and you can upgrade for free.

What’s new ?

The biggest feature is the offline support to read your news feeds without an internet connection.

You can toggle the offline mode from the settings view or it will switch automatically if your internet connection is dropped or regained.

The default cache size is 1MB and you can easily adjust it to your needs to store more articles and feeds.

Be careful because every time you’ll set a new size, the old cache will be deleted.

A new feature is the ‘full view mode‘ for more space to read your feed items. Double tap to toggle it.

We fixed in this release the WebReader login problem that was caused by a Google’s authentication bug and other minor changes.

Many thanks for those who helped us with their feedback and we encourage you all to leave a comment or an opinion on how to shape the WebReader application.
